Temple Talk
Rabbi Richman and Yitzchak Reuven examine the two episodes wherein Moses ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Tablets of the Law. Each time, he neither ate nor drank for 40 consecutive days and nights. How is such a thing possible? And what is the lesson for us today? But ultimately, our true father is Hashem Himself, and nothing can ever change that. But strangely, these words are associated with a warning not to desecrate our bodies over the death of a loved one. What is this all about? Rambam's Beit HaBechirah, Chapter 8: Guarding the Holy Temple, Part III: Twenty-four teams, (three priestly and twenty-one levitical), each comprised of ten sentries, were assigned to guard the Holy Temple.
